David John Tilotta Davis

David John Tilotta Davis, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, educator & friend was born on Nov. 8, 1943, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, TX. He grew up in League City, TX where he attended K-12th grade.

David was born to Anthony J. Tilotta & Elsie Marie Gotcher. Following his father’s death in 1943, he was lovingly raised by his mother & adopted father, Chester L. Davis.

David met & married his wife, Virginia in 1968. They were blessed with 4 children & were married for a glorious 58 years. He cherished his wife & frequently expressed his profound love and appreciation for her.

David’s life was shaped by his love of the Lord & his dedication to learning & education. After graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1961, he attended Southwest Texas State College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1965. He later continued his education at The University of Houston-Clear Lake, earning a Master of Science degree in Educational Management in 1981. He served as a teacher in San Antonio before getting called to active military duty & proudly served the United
States Army for 3 years during the Vietnam war. Upon discharge, he worked as a teacher in Webster and later as an elementary school principal at League City Elementary (1981-1993) & Clear Lake Elementary (1993-1999).

David was active in his former church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was ordained as a ruling elder in 1993 & later was an active member of Bay Area Presbyterian Church where he served on the session board and worked with his wife with the 2 & 3 year old’s in Wee Worship. His love of the Lord was evident to all who knew him & was reflected in the way he lived his life

More than anything, David will be remembered by his family for the love, guidance, humor, positive words of encouragement & memories that he shared throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond his professional accomplishments – a legacy carried on through his family, the people he taught, & the many lives he touched.

He was preceded in his death by his parents, Anthony J. Tilotta, Elsie Marie Gotcher & Chester Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Virginia Hull Davis, his children, Paul Davis (spouse Melissa & children Cris, Arianna, Jenna), Tamara (Tammy) Davis Klatt (spouse Wesley & children Jason, Joshua & Riley), Stephen Davis (spouse Moey & children Callie & Rian) & Amy Moore (spouse Jon & child Cameron), his brother Mike Davis (spouse Adela) & C. Lynn Davis.

David’s favorite scripture was Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. This life I live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate) or Special Olympics (https://support.specialolympics.org/a/donate-in-your-state).

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 6-8pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11am at Bay Area Presbyterian Church, 670 East Medical Center Boulevard, Webster, Texas 77598.
