Ruby Priest Wulf

Ruby Priest Wulf, resident of Hitchcock, Texas for 81 years, passed from this life on June 16, 2026, at the age of 91 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 28, 1935, in Franklin, Texas, to proud and loving parents, John Walton Priest and Mary Thomas Priest.

Ruby graduated Salutatorian from Hitchcock High School in 1953. In high school she played softball and competed in UIL Spelling contests where she received medals that are now proudly displayed in the Hitchcock Heritage Museum. After graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Henry, and from that 66-year union was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Ruby was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many.
Ruby began her career at Southwestern Bell, later worked for the City of Hitchcock, and Nelson “Soup” Howard Insurance Agency. She was a former member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and lifetime member of the VFW post 5400 Ladies Auxiliary. She isa member of First Lutheran Church in Galveston where she volunteered for the annual Octoberfest, the Hitchcock Heritage Society, and the Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce where she volunteered in the office and continued to volunteer for the Good Ole Days. She was an avid fan of the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets. Santa Fe Indian Baseball, Miami Hurricanes, Houston Rockets, UT Longhorns, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. As a result of her participation in the City of Hitchcock and Hitchcock Chamber, she received the title of Woman of the Year in 2010, and in 2022 she and with her husband, Henry, received Premier Citizen. In 2023, Ruby received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Hitchcock Education Foundation for her loving contributions to the school and community. She had a love and passion for serving others, but nothing was more important than her love for her husband and family. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time attending events for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, John Priest and brothers-in-law, Leslie Wulf, Louis Alessi, Jr., Freddie Obendorfer, Robert Vanzant, and a sister-in-law, Iris Alessi.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Patti Hanssard, two sons, Ronnie Wulf (Kimberly); Jason Wulf (Tamara) sister, Betty Obendorfer, and sister-in-law, Shirley Vanzant, eight grandchildren, Justin Hanssard (Erica), Tamara Chapman (Patrick) Ryan Wulf (Natasha), Taylor Wulf (Ashley) Kayla Wulf (Kai), Carter Wulf, Lilly Wulf and Carter Robertson; ten great grandchildren, Aiden Hanssard, Lincoln Hanssard, Waylon Chapman, Rylee Chapman, Tenley Wulf, Ryker Wulf, Sawyer Wulf, Fallon Wulf, Ensley Wulf, Zander Gonzalez and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Monday, June 22, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service is Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Chapel of Crowder Funeral Home, Dickinson, Texas
Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park, 10708 Hwy 6, Santa Fe, TX
Pastor Richard Rhoades and Pastor Doug Guthrie officiating

Pallbearers are Justin Hanssard, Ryan Wulf, Patrick Chapman, Taylor Wulf, Aiden Hanssard, Carter Wulf, Jeff Alessi and Mike Alessi.
