Kathleen Stanley Reid
Kathleen Stanley Reid, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 24, 2025. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Edna Gladys Newkirk and Lyle Dale Stanley on August 1, 1947. Kathleen retired from NASA after 21 years of service and was a resident of Houston, Texas, for fourteen years.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Murray Reid, her parents, Lyle Stanley and Edna Newkirk, and her brother, George Stanley.
She is survived by her son, Michael Reid, her daughter, Deborah Reid, and her two grandchildren, Kyle Reid Konvicka and Abigail Grace Konvicka.
Kathy was a natural caregiver and it was evident in everything she did. She was a devoted wife and mother, and nothing was more important to her than family. She worked a full-time job in addition to running a household, keeping up with everything everybody needed at home and the office, and still never missed a single football game, dance competition, band concert, or awards ceremony. She was known as “Mom” to all her kids’ friends because she was like a mother to all of them. She was the one they all went to if they needed something, or forgot something, or broke something and she was always there to help.
Kathy was a true angel here on earth who wanted for nothing except to take care of the ones she loved, and nobody could have done it better. She was selfless and strong, generous and kind, and every life she touched was better for knowing her. The sacrifices she made, the traditions she left behind, and the unconditional love she instilled will live on in those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers
and staffs at AccentCare Home Health Services and Cornerstone Caregiving for all the care provided. We are deeply grateful for each person who provided support to us throughout this journey.
A graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410
Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas, 77038, on Friday, January 2,
2026, at 2:00 P.M.
