Eric Michael Doyle Wantland
E
ric Michael Doyle Wantland, 32, of Webster, TX, sadly passed away on November 4th, 2025, after a lifelong battle with congenital heart problems. He was born in Pasadena, TX, to his parents Dorothy Doyle and Gary Wantland on October 29th, 1993.
Eric was a master craftsman and was proud to remodel and reconstruct homes and businesses. He worked hard his entire life and began at a very early age. During his teenage years, he spent a lot of time with his Uncle Larry where he was surrounded by wealthy homes and people. Eric would knock on their doors to see if there was anything that he could do for them in order to earn money. He went from taking care of their yards, to washing their yachts, and everything in between. Eric was trusted by all who knew him. This gave him a great reputation and a network of possibilities, so he was always busy working on something. His goal in life was to become a millionaire one day and he spent his life working towards that goal. He began mowing yards when he lived with his dad and stepmom, and from there, he acquired bigger and bigger jobs as time went on. Even when he was a little boy, he would try to find ways to make a buck.
Eric could best be described as someone that you could count on. No matter what you needed, he would either get it for you, or he could find it. He never met a stranger. He did not care what your background was, or what your religion was, etc. He treated everyone he met as an equal, no matter how poor or how rich they were. He made friends literally everywhere he went. He was known throughout the entire Santa Fe High School only by his nickname, “Doyle.” After high school, he continued his quest to be completely independent of needing anyone else’s help, sometimes to a fault.
There are so many ways we could describe him, but he would best be known as helpful, happy, joyful, hardworking, honest and loving.
He was always doing something for someone else. He would be there for you in a heartbeat. All you had to do was ask. Sometimes he would even be there when you didn’t ask. He would just show up. He would give you the shirt off of his back. He was driven, quirky, silly, crazy, goofy, loyal, selfless, brilliant, accomplished and wonderful.
He shared a love of guitars with his dad and brother. Eric was very involved in a FSOT guitars and equipment group. He was fun to be around and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was a devoted father and son and brother. He touched many lives in his short time on Earth.
Eric is survived by his partner Brittany Smith, and their son Eric Jr, aka EJ; his daughter Talynn Hope Wantland (mother Whittney) of Dayton, TX; his mother Dorothy “Dee” Doyle; his father Gary Wantland and “Mom#2” Cheri Wantland; brother Nathan (Lexie) Wantland; sisters Amy (Andrew) McFarlin and Brandi (Julius Salamone) Hamilton. He was a very loving and cherished uncle to Isabel, Zoey and Emma Wantland, Lily and Brooks Hamilton and Freya McFarlin. He was dearly loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends throughout the United States.
Please join us on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, at 4pm, for a Celebration of Life for Eric at the Masonic Lodge in League City, located at 510 Main Street.
He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts. He left each of us with memories that are etched in stone. We love you Eric.
