Stephen Ray Rios

Our beloved husband, father and brother Stephen Ray Rios, 63, of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 21, 2025. Steven was born in Houston on March 3, 1962, to Phillip Trevino Rios and Josephine Alvarez. Steven was a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Texas National Guard. Steven was a machinist for many years.

Avid Houston Astros, Rockets and Texan Fan, but a true and loyal Houston Oilers fan.Stephen loved fishing, he loved to be by the water you would find him at Texas city dike along with his buddy Brenham his grandson aka buddy best friend dog. Watering the yard and gardening every weekend; Steven prided himself on having the greenest lawn in the neighborhood. Collector of memorabilia of all kinds of sports baseball, football basketball.

Being the handyman of his family, Steven worked hard to fix every appliance and pipe that was broken in the house. Along with fixing things he loved to perform house projects. Projects such as creating shelves, painting the walls of the house to the color he liked, planting wood flooring in his house, remodeling his entire first floor bathroom, and planting an entirely new fence line for the backyard.

Stephen loved going to rock concerts, loved to barbecue, play dominos and loved going to the casino, his favorite game was 4 card poker. Steven has also stated to wield an unstoppable move in bowling, landing a strike almost guaranteed. He also possessed an unblockable jump shot in basketball that seemed to always went in. Although this is stated in his words, none have been able to disprove his claims.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Trevino Rios and Josephine Alvarez.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Melissa Sifuentes Rios. His sons, Stephen P. Rios, Andrew M. Rios, and Christopher R. Rios. His sisters, Barbara Jean. Rios and Veronica Ann Rios. His brother, Phillip A. Rios Jr, numerous nieces and nephews, and many more extended family members.Son-in-law to Maria and Federico Soto. Brother-in-law to Steven Sifuentes, Pauline Sifuentes, Yvonne (Sifuentes) Luna, John Paul Luna, Ricardo Sifuentes, Melissa R Sifuentes, Michelle Soto, Roy Villareal.  Mark Soto, Monica Soto and Federico Soto Jr.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. on August 29, 2025, at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E Broadway St, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on August 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  The burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Inez, Texas.

Pallbearers will be:

Stephen P Rios, Andrew M Rios, Christopher R Rios, Anthony Paul Luna, Gary G Chapa Jr and Gabriel Gonzales

Honorary Pallbearers:

Tristian Ray Chapa, Noah Villareal, Joshua Sifuentes, Nicholas Sifuentes.

  2. I’m truly saddened by the news of his passing. I was very amused about the self stated claims and proof of these claims. lol That says it all. Rest in peace my cousin!

    This December 6, 2025 will be 56 years since you were ring bearer at our Wedding. Your Aunt Delores and I were married. You were always respectful and a pleasure for me to talk with you. Words alone are not sufficient to say what Great person you were while on this earth. Rest in Peace Nephew Steven you are now in God’s Hands.
