Charles (“Chuck”) Paul Dunkel
Charles (“Chuck”) Paul Dunkel (82) of Texas City passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born on February 9, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Anna May and Charles John Dunkel. Chuck proudly served in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he met his wife Denise. They were married for 62 years. While on vacation, Chuck and Denise visited Texas and knew they wanted to make it their home. Therefore, in 1973, Chuck packed up his family in Philadelphia and moved to Texas City where he made a career as a Machinist with Amoco Oil. After retiring from Amoco Oil, he opened SnowTree Air Condition which he operated for many successful years.
Over the course of his life, Chuck had many hobbies as he was not one who would sit still. Immediately moving to Texas he began raising horses and participating in local rodeos and bought a boat and became a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed rebuilding car engines, doing carpentry work, and was a ham radio enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing against his sons and very good family friends (the Williams family; especially Robert Williams). Chuck could drop a stroke or two with the best of them. Chuck even had time to get an airplane pilot license. His favorite pastime likely being taking as many cruises as he could with his wife and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Rita Lotecki, and grandson, Christopher Dunkel. Chuck is survived by his wife, Denise Dunkel; daughter, Sharon Medina (husband Richard); sons, John Dunkel (wife Belinda), Charles Dunkel, Jr. (wife Dana), Daniel Dunkel (wife Amanda) and Paul Dunkel; grandchildren, Dustin Dunkel, Patrick Dunkel (wife Taylor), Steven Dunkel, Conan Dunkel, Lillian Dunkel, Luke Dunkel, Tanner Dunkel, Cole Dunkel, Danielle Dunkel, and Corey Tisnado (wife Dorie); great grandchildren, Xander Tisnado, Xavier Tisnado, Xadien Tisnado, Xachary Tisnado and Charlotte Dunkel and great-great grandchild, Oaklynn Tisnado.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with a Vigil service at 6:00pm. A funeral mass will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City with Fr. Clint Ressler officiating.

Mr. Dunkel, what a loss. We’ve been friends since our boys Sonny and Paul, were in kindergarten together in 1st grade, so 37 years, we’ve been friends. You helped me with my van a few times, and gave me some very Thoughtful, therely advice when I was having a very difficult emotional time, myself in being a single father, you were like a father to me, as I lost my parents at age 15-Sonny and I didn’t have a family when we transferred from Kansas City with Amoco oil and your family took us in and we are so grateful. Thank you and Denise for letting us take little Paul on different events with me and Sonny, being a single father I had double duty, of being a mom and dad, so I had to entertain Sonny and take him to water parks, movies, camping, museums, and letting us take Paul he was like a son to me. So thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtful friendship and your wonderful family for welcoming us into your family too. We will always treasure our memories with you, and pray and love everyone forever. God Bless you my friend. V
Very Sincerely Joseph Terrazas and sons
