Paula Moore

Paula Moore, 72, of Pasadena, Texas died of complications from strokes on April 29, 2025.

She was born in Houston, Texas on June 6, 1952 to B.B. and Glenna Moore.  A Pasadena native, Paula attended Pomeroy Elementary, Southmore Intermediate, and Sam Rayburn High School where she graduated in 1970.  Her passion for education and musical theatre led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching and Theatre from Sam Houston State University in 1975.  She began her career as a Theatre Arts teacher at Marian Catholic School in Houston.  She left teaching for eight years to fulfill her dream of being a stay at home mom. She returned to teaching in 1988 where she taught Theatre, Speech, and English at Thompson Intermediate before finally returning home to Southmore Intermediate where she taught English from 1993 until she retired in 2018.

Paula is survived by her daughters Meridyth Moore, who has worked in the communications field for 22 years, Monica Moore, a Language Arts teacher at Southmore Intermediate for 20 years where she was fortunate enough to work right down the hall from her mother for many years; her brother Steve Moore; sister-in-law Lucy Moore; nephews Marshall and Garrett Moore; and many cousins, colleagues, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on May 18 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Silver Sycamore at 5111 Pine Street, Pasadena, TX 77503.  The family invites you to join them for appetizers and desserts, which were Paula’s favorite foods, to share stories, and to visit with friends.  Paula was an avid lifelong reader. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation (https://www.barbarabushhouston.org/give) or the Houston Food Bank (https://www.houstonfoodbank.org/ways-to-give/) in her name.
