Sybil Jeanne Littlejohn

Sybil Jeanne Littlejohn (Dillion), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was 80 years old. Sybil was born on February 21st, 1945, in Monahans, Texas, to Leo “Pope” and Adrian Dillion. From an early age, she was known for her kind heart, her keen sense of creativity, and her natural ability to connect with others. She carried these traits throughout her life and career, always making those around her feel seen, heard, and valued.

Sybil graduated from Central State University in Edmond, OK with a degree in education and went on to dedicate her professional life to teaching. As an elementary school teacher
specializing in 2nd and 3rd grades, she poured her heart into the classroom. Her passion for education went beyond traditional teaching—she was especially devoted to supporting children with learning disorders such as dyslexia. Sybil believed deeply that every child deserved the chance to succeed and she worked tirelessly to ensure they had the tools and encouragement to do so.

Outside of her teaching career, Sybil brought joy and warmth to everything she touched. She loved to travel and explore new places, often bringing back stories and keepsakes that became treasured memories. She had a special eye for beauty and found joy in decorating her home with care and intention. Sybil also treasured her friendships and found great pleasure in gathering regularly with friends to play Mahjong, laugh, and share life’s stories.

Sybil is survived by her loving husband of fifty eight years, Henry Littlejohn; her two sons, Daniel Littlejohn (wife Susanna) and David Littlejohn (wife Mary). She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Audrey, Blake, and Benjamin, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Her love and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Sybil’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at
Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Boulevard in Webster, Texas. All who knew and loved Sybil are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Sybil’s memory to
organizations that support children with learning differences—continuing the mission she held so close to her heart.

Her life was a testament to love, patience, and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of
compassion and a family enriched by her boundless care.

  1. Sybil was a dear and best friend for 56 years. Early on before the boys, we made matching long gingham dresses and wore them out to dinner. She helped raise my boys by coaching me. When retirement came we started traveling twice a year. She was always happy and ready to go places and try most anything. Memories from Alaska to Maine, and from Hawaii to Key West, we traveled the US. I miss her and will always cherish the memories.

  2. I first met Sybil on my wedding day to her nephew, Stan. She was so full of life. Her eyes sparkled when she talked, and her smile lit up the room. It was the only time I was able to spend time with her. Until we meet again in heaven, she will be dearly missed.
