Shirley “Denise” Reed

Shirley “Denise” Reed, of Alvin, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 29, 1954, in Danville, Illinois, Denise was the daughter of William “James” and Bernice “Ann” Lamb.

She was raised in Texas City, Texas, where she attended local schools and graduated from Texas City High School, Class of 1972.

Denise soon began her career and embarked on many of life’s adventures, but her greatest joy and purpose came from becoming a mother. She built a long and respected career in contract administration, serving as a manager for Exxon and Austin Industries. She was employed as Director of Contracts at Brown & Root Industrial Services at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Brenda Webster of Alvin, TX. Denise was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her kind spirit, warm heart, and gentle presence.

Denise is survived by her son, RK Wistinghausen, whom she adored and lovingly referred to as her “baby boy,” and his wife, Kaitlin Wistinghausen, of Santa Fe, Texas. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren—Carter and Madyn Wistinghausen, and Matti Duhon—who brought her endless pride, laughter, and love. Affectionately known as “Momo,” Denise treasured every moment spent with them.

As we come together to say goodbye to our beloved Denise, we do so not only to mourn her passing but also to celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she so generously shared with all who knew her. Though she has left our sight, she will remain in our hearts forever.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home 401 Texas Ave La Marque, TX 77568 with Pastor Bill Cole officiating.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Denise’s life and honoring her memory.
