Scott Thornton Snell

Scott Thornton Snell was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 16, 1956. He passed away on January 7th, 2026 at HCA Clear Lake , TX.

Scott graduated with a degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University in 1978. He covered multiple high school sports teams in both Wapakoneta, OH

and Clear Lake , TX , where he moved in 1981. He was a lifelong fan of THE Ohio State University but had adopted many Texas teams as favorites including UH, the Texans, and Astros.

He worked at HEB for over 20 years and was an avid fan of his coworkers , customers, and his “bakery girl” . They were family to him.

Scott was a hard worker all his life starting with a paper route when he was 11 and continuing until his death. He loved animals ( especially dogs ) , history, traveling , and talking politics ( but always respectfully)

He is survived by his sisters , Judy Williams ( Tom), Joyce Miller, his favorite uncle and aunt , Fred and Deb Gatzke as well as nieces Caroline Hill ( Tony ) and Margaret Williams and nephews , Joseph (Emily), Matthew , and Andrew Miller, grandnephews Miles and Anders Hill, James Miller, and grandniece Rebecca Miller.

We will all miss him and his kind heart.
