Mickey Duvall

In Loving Memory of Mickey Duvall

Mickey Duvall, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 104. Born in Oklahoma, Mickey was the youngest of four children and the only son of John Walter and Iva Louise Duvall.

He began his education in Laverne and continued in Bison and Hennessey. In 1940, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and later transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces, where he honorably served during World War II. Stationed in Trinidad and British Guyana, Mickey worked as a liaison between the Air Force and shipping facilities. During his time in Trinidad, Mickey met and married Edwina Dorothy Hope-Ross. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage and raised six children. After the war, he returned to Trinidad briefly before settling in the United States in 1950. Mickey’s professional life was rooted in engineering. He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, and held positions in Oklahoma and Texas, including with Champion Petroleum and the Texas City Refinery. A lifelong learner, he pursued higher education in engineering at Wichita University, the University of Oklahoma, and College of the Mainland. Mickey spent the last 63 years of his life as a proud resident of Texas City, Texas. Following Edwina’s passing, he found joy once again with Dot Wilbanks, with whom he shared many adventures, camping trips, and a deep involvement in their church. Together, they were active members of Northside Baptist Church in Texas City, where Mickey faithfully served as a Sunday greeter. Mickey will be remembered for his unwavering faith, sharp intellect, and joyful spirit. He often shared that the secret to a long life was to “stay busy, have a good social life, and stay active in church.”

He was preceded in death by two of his children, Johnny DuVall and Jacqueline Martinez, and three grandchildren, Dawn DuVall, Michael Morgan, and Brandon DuVall.

He is survived by his children: Jay DuVall, Dean DuVall, Patricia Kelley, and Mickey DuVall. Mickey’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jackie DuVall, Daniel Kelly, Patrick Kelly, Shawn Morgan, Joseph Morgan, John Duvall, Tiffany Butler, Tammy Steenwyk, Jeanie Hornik, Jennifer Stovall, Katy Cook, Michael DuVall, Mallory Atwell, Bonnie Pillow, and Lela Gregory; 64 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
