Mark Register
Mark Register, aged 68, passed away on March 11, 2026, at his residence in Webster, Texas. He was born on January 6, 1958, in Pasadena, TX to Alyce “Marie” Hinson and Marden Thurman Register.
He is preceded in death by his mother Marie, his father Marden, and his stepfather Durward “D.H.” Hinton Hinson.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Crandall, two granddaughters, Lily and Grace Crandall, as well as his two sons, Justin and Travis Register. He also leaves behind three brothers: Terry, Charles, and Robert Register, along with his lifelong friend and “brother” James Ischy. Their relationships have been invaluable in the later years of Mark’s life.
He grew up in the SE Houston area and attended Clear Lake High School. While working at Frank’s auto shop in Seabrook, he met his first wife, Jennifer, with whom he shared a daughter. He worked at Houston Lighting & Power as a journeyman mechanic from 1976-1989. He then moved up to Syracuse, NY on a two-year contract (as he would often remark) and ended up living there until 2016, having met his second wife, Jacki, and sharing two sons. In New York, he worked as a service technician at Ingersoll Rand from 1995-2016.
Mark will be remembered as a proud and selfless father to his three children and loving grandfather to his two granddaughters. He was a devoted son to his mother, with whom he visited frequently during her later years in Cedar Park. He was a big supporter of his sons playing sports growing up, especially hockey, and had been instrumental in their Boy Scout camping adventures. He liked spending valuable time with family on road trips and had kept an annual tradition for many years to take his daughter to float the Comal River in New Braunfels for the Fourth of July. He also cherished the opportunity to support and attend his granddaughters’ dancing pursuits.
Mark had a lifelong affection for dogs, most recently having helped his sons raise a beloved yellow lab, Duke, who was later cared for by Mark’s brother Terry in the latter half of his life. Mark loved to go camping with his family in New York and owned an RV for many years with which he led them on yearly pilgrimages to visit the rest of his family in Texas. He was an avid ballroom and country western dancer, having been an award-winning instructor in his late 20’s (with a dance card that was always full) and picking it back up in his 60’s alongside his brother Charlie.
There will be a memorial service at 3pm on Saturday, March 28th at 3908 Wagon Rd, Dickinson, TX 77539. This will be held at the home that was previously owned by Mark’s grandparents Lola & Elmer Colwick, purchased in the 1920s, where Mark’s mother grew up and he and his brothers spent a portion of their childhoods.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mark’s memory to austinpetsalive.org/donate (an animal shelter where he volunteered in his later years).
