Lydia Mendez

Lydia Mendez (80) of La Marque, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 in League City, Texas. She was born on February 2, 1945 in Galveston to Leonor and Enemencio Mendoza.
A lifelong resident La Marque and Hitchcock, Lydia was a devoted member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Guadalupanas Society. She loved her family and her “dog LJ” dearly. Lydia also, enjoyed watching the Houston Texans, listening to Tejano music, and taking trips to Coushatta, where she created lasting memories. She worked for many years and retired from Texas A&M Galveston.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Daniel Mendez; two brothers, Robert Mendoza and EJ Mendoza and sister, Irene Rodriguez.
Lydia is survived by her daughters, Leticia Simmons, Patricia Courtney, Leonora Mendez; twin sister, Candelaria Trevino; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Sierra, Alyssa Hodge, Gilbert Mata, Jr., Selena Briones, Christopher Holland, Hannah Courtney, and Garrett Mata.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, with Vigial at 7:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Mendoza, Jr., Garrett Mata, Christopher Holland, Joey Aguilar, Gilbert Mata, Jr. and Avery Young. Honorary Pallbearer, Connie Waddell, Jr.

My deepest condolences to my cousins Leticia, Patricia,and Lenora.
May God give them comfort at this time of sadness and may y’all know that we are here for y’all. Our parents passing always leaves a gap in our hearts but also always cherish the fond memories . Stay strong ! Aunt Lydia was an awesome person. She always smiled and was very calm. She loved her doggie. As well as tejano music. Now she’s in heaven with uncle Danny dancing together.
