Luanna May Leidy
Luanna May Leidy, (84), of League City, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Luanna, fondly known as Lu, was born to Mollie and Harry Gartside, on February 13, 1942, in Leadville, Colorado. She was raised in Minturn, Colorado where she met her one true love, Russell. Lu was a cheerleader at Minturn High School and was always full of spirit and enthusiasm for life. She went on to earn an associate’s degree and then married Russ on August 31, 1963, in Denver, Colorado. Lu spent the next 17 years supporting her husband’s career which took them to Europe for 5 years where she was an unbelievable mom and wife traveling all throughout foreign countries via a Volkswagen camper van with 3 young children. She and her family moved to Lake Jackson, Texas where she resided for the next 26 years.
While there, Lu had a 20 plus year banking career with Texas Dow Employees Credit Union. She then moved to Clear Lake City with Russ and worked for Johnson Space Center Credit Union until she moved into her dream house that Russ lovingly built in Durango, Colorado. They lived in Durango for 12 years where they spent time riding ATVs, camping, hiking, jeeping, skiing and sharing their love of God’s country with anyone and everyone who came to visit.
Lu was an extremely hard worker and an unstoppable volunteer in every community she was a part of. She was the most selfless person, always ensuring others’ needs came before her own, and giving endlessly to those in need. Lu’s faith was incredibly important to her. She was deeply involved in her church where she served on several finance committees. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star. Lu was an avid bridge player who enjoyed spending her time with her bridge groups. She enjoyed getting up early to make breakfast and pack lunches for all the many outdoor adventures. You could always find her sitting in the ski lodge holding a table for her family coming off the slopes.
Lu, alongside Russ, raised three children-Mike, Trish and Audra-whom she supported wholeheartedly in every endeavor. From cheering on the sidelines at games to encouraging them in their many activities, she was their constant source of strength, pride and unwavering love.
Above all, her favorite role was that of grandmother. She was so proud of all of them. She adored and supported each of them with all her heart and never missed a chance to be a part of their activities and lives. To them, she was not only a grandmother but a guiding light and a source of unconditional love.
Lu will be remembered as the most loving and caring mother, the best grandmother, a loyal friend, and a truly remarkable woman whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives.
In addition to her parents, Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Russell William Leidy and brother, Harry George Gartside, Jr. She is survived by her children, Michael Leidy, Trish Leidy, and Audra Farace; grandchildren, Sidney Leidy, Madison Leidy, CJ Hudson, Hailey Hudson, Parker Farace, and Presley Farace as well as numerous family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Webster Presbyterian Church, 201 W. NASA Parkway, Webster, Texas 77598.
