Linda Karen Selman Schultz
Linda Karen Selman Schultz, 61, of Hemphill, Texas passed away on March 5, 2026. She was born on September 12, 1964 in Texas City to Billy Don Selman, Sr. and Patricia O’Meara Selman.
Karen was a resident of Hemphill for the past 10 years and was formerly of La Marque. She retired from UTMB in Galveston and was a member of the Church of Christ in San Augustine, Texas.
During her years in Hemphill, Karen was active in the local community and especially enjoyed participating in the Artesian Farmers Market, where many people came to know her for her delicious homemade tamales and beautifully decorated cookies. She had a special talent for baking and decorating cookies, often creating custom designs for children’s birthday celebrations and special occasions. Sharing her baking with others was one of the ways she brought joy to those around her.
Karen also had a special gift for gardening and truly had a green thumb. She took great pride in keeping her home and yard beautiful with the plants and trees she carefully tended. Her yard reflected the love she put into it, and among her favorites were the lilies she enjoyed growing.
She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Don Selman, Sr., and her brother, Billy Don Selman, Jr.
Karen is survived by her mother, Patricia O’Meara Selman; her son, James Stephen Schultz; and her sister, Andrea “Andy” Reyna Bozeman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, with the service following at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Rex Teter.
