John Hicks Jr.
On November 24, 2025, John Hicks Jr. was called home to glory at the age of 87. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose life was marked by service, love, and quiet strength.
John was a proud and decorated military veteran who honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for more than 30 years. His dedication to his country reflected the same values he lived by every day; discipline, integrity, loyalty, and perseverance. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was going fishing, enjoying meals at his favorite restaurants where the staff knew him by name, or simply riding around and taking in the scenery. John appreciated life’s everyday moments. He was known for his calm presence, wisdom, and deep love for his family. John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
As Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1), and “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). These verses reflect a life well lived and a faith firmly held.
He is survived by his eldest son, Edward Hicks, and daughter, Anna Hicks-Williams; his grandchildren, Ebony, Steven, Jessica, and Lyneè; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons, Julian and Asonis.
Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in God’s promise: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). John will be forever loved and remembered.
