He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirlynn; daughters Melanie Wingfield, Hollie McCall, and Melissa Allega (David); son William Griffin (Colleen); eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in each of them.

A memorial service will be held on December 17 at 2:00 PM at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

  3. I met Joel back in the ’80s, and he left a lasting impression on me. The man could eat—not a lot at once, but constantly, like it was his superpower. He was an incredible manager who knew exactly how to motivate his team and bring out the best in people. I haven’t seen him in a few years, but I’m sure he was still the same genuine, inspiring person I knew back then. I bet he is leading the saints in pushups every morning.
