Jane W. Johanson
Jane W. Johanson, 95, a resident of Houston, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3. 2025. She was born in Nederland, Texas on June 12, 1929, to parents, Raymond Thurston Welch and Eula Marie (Lyons) Welch. While things were rough for her family through the Great Depression, they managed with the help of a vegetable garden and a milk cow (that they kept in the garage!).
Before retiring, she worked as a secretary for Union Carbide. Throughout the years she also served in many capacities at First Baptist Church in Dickinson, Texas, including Church Secretary and Church Clerk. For approximately 8 years beginning in 1972, she had her own catering business. She thrived on providing catering services for her family, friends and many others and had a fine attention to detail and a natural talent for decorating. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening and caring for family and friends. But most of all her life was characterized by her love of God and for her children. She was a prayer warrior who didn’t just say she would pray for you – she always did pray.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ron Johanson; brother, Earl McMahen; and sisters, Dorothy Martin and Ann Daughrity.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, daughter, Jan Bailey; sons, Daryl Johanson and Tom Johanson (Yvonne); four grandchildren, Telisa Johanson (Bobby Lobit), J Johanson, Jacob Johanson (Abigail) and Josh Hudnall (Kaitlynn Ketrow); ten great-grandchildren, Mila Johanson, Taylor Vickers (Ben), Jazmine, Mala and Allyson Johanson, Jarret, Xander and Calvin Hudnall and Jacob and Caleb Johanson; three great-great grandchildren, Elena Vickers, Samuel Adan and Madison Johanson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In her honor, there will be a visitation on Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 2:00pm, also at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to Bayou Baptist Church in Dickinson, Texas.
