Jacqueline Carol Capone

Jacqueline Carol Capone July 30, 1939 – July 5, 2025 Friendswood, TX Jacqueline Capone passed away peacefully, at the age of 85, on July 5, 2025, surrounded by 5 generations of her loving family. She was born on July 30, 1939, in Far Rockaway, NY, to Irene and Henry Lehman. She lived in New York for over 30 years where she met her husband, Ralph J. Capone, Jr. Their marriage lasted for 42 years before his passing. Together with their daughter Roni, they decided to make Houston, Texas their home to be closer to her mother Irene, siblings Barbara Dixon, Rick and Bobby Lehman, cousins Vinny and Joanie Keane and all their children.

Her husband’s work took them from Texas to Mississippi and Florida before settling back into Friendswood, Texas, where she lived out the rest of her life. Along the way, she met so many great friends and became ‘NANA’ to all her grandson Jason and granddaughter Jackie’s friends. Early in her career, she worked as an operator and supervisor at bell telephone company in Long Island. Later she worked as a waitress at the Rockaway Hunt Golf club, where she would have her brother Rick pick her up and reward him with a giant shrimp cocktail. She then worked alongside her husband with his moving and storage company. On the side, she worked as a contractor for over 20 years, hanging wallpaper for residential homes and commercial businesses which also included the casino ships her husband managed. She later became employee of the year working as a reservation’s operator for one of the casinos in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She worked there for 10 years before moving back to Texas.

Just before her passing, she had one last job to do and that was to help paper her grandson’s office. She did not know when to quit. She still had what it took to make it happen and was one of the strongest willed women to walk this earth. Jackie loved to dance and had a small stint with the Follies in New York, at radio city music hall. They performed in elaborate and extravagant theatrical venues. They were known for their lavish sets, costumes, and the showcasing of talented women, who were the epitome of American beauty and glamour. She loved dancing so much that she snuck off to Philadelphia, hopped on a train, against her parents’ wishes, to dance on a live television show called the American bandstand US top 100, hosted by Dick Clark. What an experience. She loved visiting places like Louie’s on the Lake with her husband and other couples where they would dance all night long. Even after they shut the place down, they would take it back to the house and continue the dance party. She could not be stopped.

Another passion of hers was slot machines and over 40 years of family fun time, or as she would say; “Ching-A-Linging” with her husband Ralph, her sisters Claire & Barbara, and her sisters in law Perla, Maria, Diane, and all the many friends she met over time at all the game rooms. One last thing that Jackie enjoyed was get together’s with couples and family, playing card games, such as poker, Pinochle, and UNO! “UNOOOOO IS MYYYYYY LIFE” was what they sang before seriously competing.

She was the biggest Astros fan! Never missed watching a game. She knew the stats of each player, who they were married to, where they were from, and which teams they were eventually traded to. It was an absolute joy listening to her yell at the tube when they made mistakes or scream when they hit homeruns. She would always say she was blessed that she was able to see them win not one but two world series. We will all continue her passion for the Houston Astros, as she made us all fans too. A faithful member of Mary Queen Catholic Church, Jacqueline was well-loved for her warm presence and caring spirit. She adored Christmas time with family. Her favorite thing to do was decorate the tree and watch her husband and grandson string the lights on the house.
