George Joseph Powasnick, of League City, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 in Nassau Bay, Texas at the age of 89. George was born on August 9, 1936 in Bayonne, New Jersey to Michael and Nora Powasnick.

George was raised in the northeast until his pre-teen years when he and his father moved to Texas shortly after the passing of George’s mother. His sister Regina (Jean) offered to help raise Nora (Aunt Nonie) & George, since they were still so young. Jean had recently married James Kroll, moving them to Texas. After High School, George joined the U.S. Airforce, where eventually he met his wife, Doris Porter of Charleston, South Carolina. They settled in Texas where together they raised 4 beautiful and successful children: Sue, George Jr., Nancy and Gregory.

His pride and love was non-other than his family. His second love was his work. But he did not stop there. He was filled with giving and supporting of his friends and colleagues. One of his mottos: Work to make a difference and give everything that you can to possibly help others. He strived in his commitments in family, friends and even those that were in need or struggling. He always felt that he could lend a hand to help anyone. His interest groups included family gatherings, work gatherings, friends, dancing, golf, gambling, and eating southern food. He also loved fishing, hunting, sharing memories, sharing life lessons, photography and traveling. He danced his way around the Clear Lake area, getting to know many wonderful friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Michael Powasnick, mother, Nora Powasnick, wife, Doris Powasnick, sister, Regina (Jean) Powasnick Kroll and husband James Kroll, Brother, Michael Powasnick Jr., and daughter Sue Powasnick Everling.

Survived by sister, Nora Powasnick Young, by son, George Powasnick Jr., daughter, Nancy Powasnick, son and daughter in law, Gregory and Jeanne Powasnick, along with grandchildren, Sarah and husband Alan Garner, Hillary and husband Austin Simon, Sam Milbauer, Joseph Powasnick, Emily Powasnick, and Aaron and wife Ashley McIntire, and great grandchildren Landon Garner, Brayden Garner, Amerie Simon, Owen McIntire, Allie McIntire, along with many
nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 9:00am followed with a Celebration of Life Service at Crowder Funeral Home at 10:00am. 1645 E. Main St., League City, TX 77573.
