Gary Walter Ohnesorge
Gary Walter Ohnesorge, 52, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on October 23, 2025. He was born the eldest son of Thomas Edward Ohnesorge and Barbara Ann Shepard Ohnesorge on April 28, 1973 in Texas City, Texas. Gary grew up in the Clear Lake area, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1991 and then earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1995. After graduation, he worked for the GHG Corporation as an International Space Station (ISS) Safety and Mission Assurance Vehicle Engineer for 12 years. In 2008, Gary accepted a job offer from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the Johnson Space Center (JSC), where he worked for over 17 years as the ISS Program Quality Assurance Lead. Upon joining NASA, Gary met Kristine Irene Kennedy, and they were married on December 2, 2012.
Gary had a witty and playful sense of humor, a warm and fun-loving personality, and a wonderfully creative mind, all of which were reflected in his hobbies and interests. He had passion for unique watches, Lego sets, Nerf and other foam blasters, and all things related to the Star Wars saga. He also loved spending time with his wife, Kristine, and their dogs, Padme and Boba Fett. Gary and Kristine especially enjoyed watching movies and shows together, building Lego models, and travelling to places such as Hawaii and Disney World.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Tom. He is survived by his wife, Kristine; his mother, Barbara; his brother, Michael Louis Ohnesorge; his sister, Virginia Lee Ohnesorge, and her husband, John Passineau; and numerous family members and friends. Gary had a sweet, kind, and gentle heart, and he was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, and the world will be less bright without him.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas.

My most sincere condolences to Kristine and Gary’s family. I worked with Gary for several years and considered it a pleasure. Gary was always a fun loving person, patient, kind, smart, and witty. He taught me so much unbeknownst to him. I will miss him greatly, especially showing off the latest addition to his watch collection and the progress he was making on his latest Lego build!!
Kristine, I was deeply saddened to learn of Gary’s passing. You’ve both been in my thoughts constantly. I pray that you’re surrounded by care, kindness, and support during this difficult time, and that the coming days bring moments of gentle healing.
