Edison Uchenna Asonye
Edison Uchenna Asonye, 60, of Pearland, TX, passed away on May 13, 2025. He was born November 28, 1964 to Isaiah and Ihekeremma of Isiegbu Ozuitem, Bende, Abia State in Nigeria. Edison worked as a pharmacist at the Sisters of Charity Hospital System for twelve years. He left the hospital to work alongside his wife Sandra as independent pharmacists so that they would be able to spend time with their young family.
Edison is preceded in death by his parents Isaiah and Ihekeremma, sisters Mary Okeke and Virginia Ahanonu, and brother Joseph Asonye.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Sandra Russell Asonye, sons Michael and Christopher Asonye, daughter Elizabeth Asonye, sisters Ada Matthews and Ugonma Asonye, brothers Emmanuel Asonye (Ngozi Asonye) and Elisa Asonye (Ozochi Asonye), along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends who will never forget him.
Edison was known for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He was involved in his children’s activities when they were growing up, from dance recitals, football practices, and Boy Scouts. His wife and kids all thought that when Chris got his Eagle Scout, Edison would have been awarded one too given all the hours of support he gave to his son and the local Troop. He was a true Eagle Scout: always helping people when he could. One example of this is through his Change Healthcare Coalition Foundation and his passion to provide desks and chairs for students in his local village. Edison was a member of Kappa Psi Fraternity while in college. After college, he and his wife moved to Pearland, Texas in August of 1990 where they began to attend St. Helen’s Catholic Church and have continued to attend for thirty-five years.
He takes the cherished memory of all his family and friends with him into eternity, and his legacy will live long with each of them. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories of him and his indomitable spirit will continue to live on. Many broken hearts are left behind, but in our despair we are comforted knowing that you are at peace with God. As time passes, our tears will dry, our hearts will mend, but our love for you will never end.
Goodbye for now my dear husband, Dad, and friend. God Bless.
