Donald James

Donald James, of League City, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Webster, Texas at the age of 71. He was born on October 11, 1953 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to George and Alyce James.

Donald earned a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and worked for Dow Chemical for over 39.5 years.  Donald loved our Houston Area Sports teams.  He appreciated many forms of art and Persian rugs.  He also enjoyed traveling the world, snow skiing, working out and barbequing at home with family and friends.

His greatest love was family.  He adored his granddaughters.  He loved to bake sourdough bread and bring the family together to make Christmas cookies.  He was known to make the best pancakes in the world.  Luckily, his granddaughter Nevaeh is the only one who knows the recipe.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Alyce, mother and father-in-law Joe P. and Irene Garcia and aunt and uncle Joan and John Harr.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years JoAnn, daughter Tara Tharp and husband Michael, son Christopher James and wife Rachel, brother Tom James, granddaughters Nevaeh Dreyer and Bella (Boo-Boo) Tharp, niece Claire James, nephew Loren James and many other loving family and friends.

The Family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 9:30am with a Mass at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker, League City, Texas 77573 with Father John Rooney presiding.
