David William Long

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David William Long, who peacefully departed this life on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 77 years old.

Born on March 17, 1948, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, David was the cherished son of Howard K. and Frances V. Long. He grew up in Schwenksville, PA, where he was educated through the local public school system. In 1971, he met the love of his life, Joyce M. Long, and the two were married on August 7, 1972. Their bond spanned more than five decades, marked by love, commitment, and a shared journey of family and devotion.

In 1977, David moved his family from Pennsylvania to Galveston County, Texas—a place he proudly called home for the rest of his life. He dedicated 36 years of service to Enterprise Chemical Transportation Company before retiring in 2013.

David was a man of many talents—an avid hunter and fisherman, a master handyman who could build and fix anything, and a source of wisdom to all who knew him. His work ethic, sharp mind, and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard K. and Frances V. Long; his devoted wife, Joyce M. Long; his brothers Harry Long, Gregory Long, and Blaine Long; son-in-law Ralph Robinson, Jr; and his beloved niece Connie Long.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister Janet Hysaw and brother Howard K Long; his children Kevin Price Sr. (Cathy), Linda Currington (Cord), Angela Dise, Shawn Long, and Melanie Robinson; and his grandchildren Kevin Jr. (Mary), Anthony (Victoria), Corey, Michael (Taylor), John (Brittany), Christopher, Hailey (Quinton), Amber, Dawn, Erica (Eric), Ashton  (La’Chazeon), and Kaitlynne (Mason).

David’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Abigail, Zoe, Zola, Hayden, Dominic, Cole, Sydney, Jackson, Olivia, Mackenzie, and Maverick, as well as a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

We are grateful for the wisdom, strength, and unwavering love he shared.

“So it’s true that mechanics never stop working. Even after death, they’re all up there smirking.”

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
