Dana Lowel Place
Dana Lowel Place, 74, of Brenham, Texas, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 5, 1951, in Pasadena, Texas, Dana was the beloved son of Rufus Monroe Place and Verdie Velma Wood-Place.
Dana lived a life defined by service, faith, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. A proud patriot, he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. His military service instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty, leadership, and compassion for others—qualities that guided him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Dana dedicated 40 years of hard work and commitment to INEOS, where his strong work ethic and dependability earned the respect of colleagues and leadership alike. Upon retirement, he left behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication that reflected his character.
Dana was a man of deep faith and an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Texas City, Texas. His faith shaped his life and was evident in his kindness, humility, and willingness to serve others. He was also a proud member of the Patriot Guard and the Mid-Life Cycles Club, communities that reflected both his love of friendship and his enjoyment of fellowship.
Beyond his professional career, Dana devoted countless hours to public service and mentorship. He served as a CPR Instructor, Captain of the Fire Brigade and Rescue, and was deeply involved in emergency response. He found great fulfillment in mentoring fellow paramedics, EMTs, and fire brigade rescue team members, generously sharing his knowledge and experience to help others succeed and save lives.
At the center of Dana’s life was his family, whom he loved fiercely and without reservation. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 38 years, Connie Hatman-Place, and a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Dana lived for his family, finding his greatest joy in their accomplishments, milestones, and everyday moments together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Hatman-Place; his children: Tonja Hall and husband Damon, Cari Goeke and husband Brandt, Dana A. Place, Jeremy Baker, Jason Place, Jennifer Place and husband Jason, Jonathan Brieden and wife Kyra, and Gerald Place and wife Diana. He is also survived by his sisters, Marjorie Ann Dahse and Verdie Christine Waguespack and husband Michael; and his brother, Harold Lee Place and wife Libby.
Dana was a proud grandfather to Cody Beard, Jacob Bland, Colin Goeke, Emmie Goeke, Michael Cornett, Austin Cornett, Josh Cornett, Nicholas Cornett, Kinsley Brieden, Khloe Brieden, Kyri Place, Corwin McCoy, and Elisa Willis, and a cherished great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a large extended family, along with many dear friends and colleagues, all of whom he deeply adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Monroe Place and Verdie Velma Wood-Place; his brother, James Conway Place; his sister, Alice Olivia Huskey; and his brother-in-law, Robert Dahse.
Dana Lowel Place will be remembered as a man of honor, faith, and compassion—a servant leader who gave freely of himself to his family, his community, and his country. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example he set for all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his care givers, Consuella Turner-Heard, Nikki Barnes, and Kendra Pool, whom worked tirelessly to provide him adequate comfort and care.
In his honor, a visitation will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a funeral service on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00am in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel in Dickinson, Texas followed by the Interment at the Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
