Felix H. Castaneda, Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Felix H. Castañeda, 93, who passed away peacefully at his home in League City, Texas on April 29, 2025.  Born in Laredo, Texas, Felix was a beloved husband, father, uncle and friend.

Felix was a graduate of Martin High School and the University of Houston where he received a Bachelor in Civil Engineering.  He was as a Civil Engineer at the U.S. Corps of Engineers, retiring at the age of 67.

Felix was a proud veteran, having served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1960.  We thank him for his valiant service to our country during the Korean War.

He was a Dallas Cowboys and UT Longhorn fan.  Felix, in his younger days, enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family.

Felix was known to be a kind-hearted, loving and a gentle family man.  He did not hesitate to help anyone and gave freely without reservation.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and witty personality.  Felix had a joy in his heart that was easily felt by anyone around him.  He made others feel welcomed and loved.  It was so easy to love and adore him.

Felix would walk in to his favorite restaurants and immediately was greeted by name and, with hugs from the staff.  He knew the staff by name and always gave each a small monetary gift.  This gesture was part of his generous spirit and his innate desire to be kind to others.  He truly lived and embodied God’s command to love one’s neighbor.

He will be greatly missed as he leaves a void and absence that can be strongly felt in our hearts.  However, his gentle smile and incredible love remains with us as we treasure the many beautiful memories he has left.  When we remember him, we will immediately smile and feel a warmth that only he could provide.

Felix was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olga A. Castañeda, his daughter, Olga Castañeda, his son-in-law, Frank Anthony Hernandez, and his parents, Felix Castañeda Sr. and Paula H. Castañeda.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his daughter, Sara Hernandez.

A remembrance service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from noon to 4:30 pm at Crowder Funeral Home located at 851 FM 517 W and Hwy 646, Dickinson, Texas 77539.

  2. I regret that I will not be able to attend the services as I am taking my wife to receive treatment for lymphedema in Houston. I want to express my sympathy for Felix’s family. We worked together at the Corps of Engineers for many years, and I had great respect for Felix. I found him to be a kind and helpful man and a good friend. I offer a prayer of consolation for Sara.
