Mark S. Agrella
Mark S. Agrella, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born on September 18, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Mark dedicated much of his life to raising his two sons, of whom he was very proud. He was a journeyman electrician and musician in two prominent Methodist Churches where he used his saxophone talents and percussion skills to praise God and bring the joy of music to others.
Mark’s academic journey began at Dobie High School. He went on to receive his four-year journeyman electrician license and worked in many settings all over Houston, making many friends along the way and gathering stories to tell. Mark left the workforce and took up a greater career raising his two sons and providing a warm loving and adventurous home environment as his family moved from Houston to Southlake, Texas and then onto Brussels, Belgium. There the family traveled to 24 countries, bonding in their shared challenges adapting to a new culture. Upon returning to the U.S., the family settled in The Woodlands, Texas, where education and home life continued to be a focus.
Throughout Mark’s life, his passion for music was shared with others. It started with the marching band in high school, where he met Starlet Hargrave, who later became his wife. He went on to playing in several rock and jazz bands who played at the Houston Rockets games, to playing with two praise and worship teams at Abundant Life Methodist Church in Clear Lake, Texas and Whites Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas. His talent on the saxophone and his singing ability was a highlight in many worship services, and the boys quickly became musical themselves as they listened to their father practice on the way to school, singing “I’m smelling coffee”.
Mark is survived by his former wife, Starlet Agrella, two sons, Austin Jeffries Agrella (Maggie) and Andrew Garrett Agrella, his brothers, Arnold Agrella Jr. (Carol), Martin Agrella (Shelly), and his sister, Michele Sharpless. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Mary Louise Agrella.
Mark will be remembered for his love of family and friends, photography of nature, birds, and beautiful landscapes, and bird watching. He will also be remembered for his love of the outdoors — fishing, hunting, boating. He taught his sons many skills, mostly importantly how to be a loving father and what it means to be a Christian. He was the true fisher of men.
Mark’s celebration of life service will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E Medical Center Blvd, Webster Texas on Friday, October 30 at 11:00 with a visitation with family from 10:00 – 11:00.
