Joanne Louise Poirier, 96, passed away on August 21, 2026 in Houston, Texas. She was born on May 03, 1930, in Worcester, Massachusetts to Harvey Hollis Smith and Ruth Louisa Foskett.

Joanne’s husband, Robert F. Poirier and son, Robert S. Poirier; Her Sister Irene Williams; and brother Robert Daniels, predeceased her.

She is survived by her son, John C. Poirier, and her Sister Nancy Piotroski. Grandchildren: Robert Jamison Poirier, Claire Poirier McKenna, Emily Caroline Hernandez, and Nicole Michelle Poirier. Great-Grandchildren: Evelyn, Margaret, and Winnifred Poirier; Charlotte, Owen, and George McKenna; and James, Samuel, and Peter Hernandez.

Joanne earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s Degree in education from The University of Houston. She was a primary and secondary School teacher for many years in Both Friendswood and La Porte Independent School Districts.

She had a passion for antiques, knitting and loved to travel to many places in the world both far and near!
