Mindy Marie Shaw-Anderson

Mindy Marie Shaw-Anderson, 45, of League City, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and close friends after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Mindy was born on February 18, 1981, in San Diego, California, to proud parents Bill and Susie Shaw.

Mindy graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1999. Following graduation, she followed in her father’s footsteps and began a career in the petrochemical industry. Throughout her career, she worked as an HR specialist and held positions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll administration.

Mindy loved her work, but what she cherished most were the people she worked alongside. She had a genuine passion for helping and supporting her fellow coworkers. Her position in Accounts Payable at Pro-Surve was especially meaningful to her because of the unwavering support she received from the company’s owners and her coworkers throughout her cancer journey. She was deeply grateful to know she could always count on them, and their kindness meant the world to her.

Mindy is survived by her spouse, Joseph Anderson; her mother, Susie Shaw; her brother, Mitchell Shaw (Johana); her nephew, Landon Shaw; her constant companion, her beloved Chihuahua, “Sugar Suzanne”; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Shaw (the “G.O.A.T.”); her grandparents, Laverne and William Schendel, Darrell and Dorris Childs, and Karen and H.B. Shaw; her aunt, Sandi Shaw Deyo; and her cousin, David Childs.

Mindy’s vibrant spirit, infectious smile, and ability to bring joy wherever she went earned her the affectionate nickname “Our Disco Ball.” Her light reflected onto everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A tribute from Dee Ann Bexley

A disco ball underneath isn’t anything special.  It is a ball like any other ball, usually hollow and made of material to give it shape and form, with no beginning and no end.
This round shape, like a circle, symbolizes infinity, eternity, unity, and wholeness.

But what makes the disco ball or “mirror ball” so special are the hundreds of small mirrors on the outside of this ordinary ball.  And when the disco ball is spinning and the light hits the mirrors just right, hundreds of little dots and beams sparkle across the room, covering the surfaces around it and creating beauty for all to see.

Mindy, like a disco ball, was made up of a shell, that isn’t what defined her.  What defined her were the hundreds of tiny mirrors that attached to her.  And we were those tiny mirrors.  Whether you wanted to or not, when Mindy was around you, you became a part of her.  Like the mirrors, we began to attach ourselves to her.

She was the ball and the surface that we all found ourselves bound to.  We were all reflections of her beauty, her love, her joy, her happiness, her laughter, and her unwavering faith.  And when she was on full display her family and friends shined the brightest.  Her love for us, sparkled and radiated like the dots and beams that danced across the dance floor.

How lucky are we to have known that kind of love.  How lucky are we to have seen that kind of beauty.  How lucky are we to have experienced that kind of joy.  Life will keep turning and we will keep spinning, and Mindy will keep shining through our memories, our laughter, our tears, our pasts, and our futures.

I do not believe in coincidence, I believe in God ordained and how beautiful is it that he made her just how she was and her favorite thing (other than Sugar) was a disco ball.

God has a funny sense of humor.

So Mindy, sing your heart out to every song without ever getting tired or going hoarse.  Dance your rear off without pain and exhaustion.  And Laugh out Loud with your boisterous laugh that we will all miss.

Let the skies light up and rumble with your joy of going home to both of your fathers.

Until we meet again my sweet friend.  I Love You!!!!!

A Memorial Service will be held at Gloria Dei Church, 18220 Upper Bay Road, Nassau Bay, Texas 77058, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.

  2. Hearing about Mindy’s passing has broken my heart. However, I know that she is free from pain and is so happy to be with Jesus, her dad and all of her grandparents. She will definitely be missed and as a mother, I feel the pain that Susie feels from missing her daughter. My prayers will continue to be with the family as they adjust to life without their sweet Mindy. 🙏♥️🙏
