Patricia A. Heard

Patricia A. Heard, 80, died at her home in Webster, TX on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She was born in Kansas City, MO on December 30, 1944, to Alice Steele and David Gulley.

Pat worked for the M.D. Anderson Hospital system in Houston, where she held various positions in the biohazard safety field before becoming the Safety Manager of Environmental Health and Safety Department prior to her retirement in January 2004.

She was a graduate of Raytown High School, Class of 1962, in Raytown, MO and relocated to Norfolk, VA after her marriage in 1963. Following the birth of her son, Donald Eugene Heard, the joy of her life, the family moved to Texas City, where she was a stay-at-home mom for many years before embarking on her educational journey. Pat completed her Associate Degree in General Science in 1982 from the College of the Mainland in Texas City, then studied at the University of Houston – Clear Lake, earning a B.S. in Allied Health Science in May 1985.

Pat was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and spending time relaxing and reflecting at her beloved backyard waterfall and koi pond. She became a foster pet “mom” early in her adult life, loving, sheltering and providing for many dogs and puppies over the years. Her caring and giving spirit was seen through the many charities she supported over the years, among which were St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, ASPCA, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, just to name a few.

Surviving is a brother, Steven Enlow (wife, Kay), two nephews, a niece, and several great nieces and great nephews.

Ms. Heard was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Woodfin (Woody) Gulley; her stepfather, Charles Enlow; a sister, Cherri (Enlow) Roberts; and her son, Donald Eugene Heard.

Patricia was laid to rest at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, TX on December 29, 2025. A graveside remembrance is being planned for her family and close friends at a date yet to be determined.
