Nancy E. Steele-Anderson
Nancy E. Steele-Anderson
January 3, 1933 – October 3, 2026
Nancy was born on January 3, 1933, in Monticello, Mississippi, to George William Conn and Nancy Agnes Archer Conn. She attended San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas, where she was a member of the Corkettes synchronized swimming team at the iconic Shamrock Hotel.
After high school, Nancy attended the University of Houston, where she met her first husband, Robert “Bob” Steele. Together they raised three children: Barbara, Bill, and Sterling. The family resided in Houston for 23 years before moving to Coldspring, Texas, in 1974, and later to Haines City, Florida, where Bob passed away in 1987. Nancy later married Norman Anderson, gaining a stepdaughter, Robin. Outliving four beloved husbands—all avid golfers—Nancy spent 30 vibrant years in Florida before returning to Texas in 2015 to make her final home in Pearland.
An accomplished golfer herself, Nancy achieved four holes-in-one throughout her career. She proudly held the title of Ladies’ Golf Champion at Texaco Country Club in Houston, Cape Royale in Coldspring, Sun Air in Haines City, and Kingsway in Lake Suzy, Florida.
Nancy’s creativity and sharp mind were evident in everything she did. She was a talented painter whose beautiful artwork graces the homes of her family and friends. She loved solving the daily Jumble, working crossword puzzles, reading the comics, and completing jigsaw puzzles with loved ones. An excellent bridge player, she looked forward to her weekly bridge games for decades.
Fun-loving and generous, Nancy adored parties, music, and dancing. She spent countless evenings dressed up, mingling, and dancing the night away at country club events and charity fundraisers. Above all, Nancy loved people and animals. She had a tender heart for children and never passed a baby in public without stopping to wave or talk. She had a delightful collection of frogs decorating her home and yard, and she took great joy in sharing visits to wildlife rescues with her family.
Nancy was a woman of quiet, steady faith who read her devotionals faithfully every evening. Over her lifetime, she worshiped at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, Florida, and First Presbyterian Church in Pearland, Texas.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Robert Steele, Bert Bindshadler, Norman Anderson, and Clancy Rimmey.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Goodson (Steve); sons Will Steele (Nancy) and Robert Steele (Erin); stepdaughter Robin Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
