JoAnn Mary Strueby
JoAnn Mary Strueby (89), a longtime resident of La Marque, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 in Magnolia, Texas. She was born on December 24, 1936 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Agnes and Henry Pieper. She received a degree in music at the University of Denver. JoAnn worked as a music teacher at St. Thomas Episcopal School in Houston and La Marque ISD. She was the Choir Director, song leader and cantor at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Edward F. Strueby; and son, Steven J. Strueby. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Johnson (David) and Geri Hosterman (Jack); sons, Timothy Strueby (Laurie) and Anthony Stueby; ten grandchildren, Erin Pepe (Tommy), Zachary Strueby (Gabi), Mitchell Johnson, Andrew Johnson (Morgan), Jacob Strueby, Ethan Strueby, Joanna Strueby, Matthew Strueby, Abigail Hosterman and John Hosterman; and three great-grandchildren, Tanner Pepe, Carter Pepe, and Evelyn Johnson.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque with Msgr. James B. Anderson officiating; entombment to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
