Carl Nelson Sharp III, of League City, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old.

He was born on February 21, 1945, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Carl Nelson Sharp Jr. and Adele McCormick Sharp.

Carl was a devoted husband and loving father of five, grandfather of nine, and great-grandfather of two. Of all he accomplished throughout his life, nothing brought him greater pride or joy than the family he and his beloved wife, Mari-Ellen, built together.

Carl loved his country immensely and was deeply proud to have served as a United States Marine. That love of country remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

A true master of all trades, Carl possessed an incredible ability to learn, build, fix, create, and figure out just about anything. Over the course of his life, he owned several businesses, worked as an accountant, and spent time in retail management. He was endlessly curious and an avid reader, with a particular love for American history. Those who knew him well often joked that Carl knew something about everything; and, more often than not, he did!

Carl was a faithful Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church in League City, Texas, for nearly 30 years. His faith was an important and steady presence throughout his life, until his final breath.

He also loved to cook, especially when he was cooking for the people he loved. Sharing an amazing meal around the table was one of the many ways Carl cared for his family.

Above all else, Carl loved his family fiercely and was immensely proud of the life and legacy he and Mari-Ellen created together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Nelson Sharp Jr., Father, and Adele McCormick Sharp, Mother, and his lovely bride of 49 years, Mari-Ellen Morrill Sharp.

He is survived by his children, Carl Nelson Sharp IV (Joselyn Sharp), Rebecca Anne Davis (Randall Davis), Sarah Elizabeth Baylis, Katherine Margaret Vosta (Adam Vosta), and Megan Ashley Lara (Jonathan Lara); nine grandchildren, Patrick Nelson Sharp, Steven Earl Spearman, Caitlyn Taylor Davis, Cade Austin Davis, Levi Christopher Baylis, Charlotte Ruth Vosta, Constance Paige Vosta, Adelita Parker Lara, and Ellie Mae Lara; and two great-grandchildren, Henry Nelson Sharp and Stina Mae Sharp.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1612 East WalkerStreet, League City, Texas 77573, with Father Simon Daudet Kipiti presiding.

Interment at Houston National Cemetery will take placeat a later date.
