Albert William Matties

Albert William Matties, 95, a resident of Friendswood, Texas, passed from this life on July 14, 2026. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 17, 1930 to parents, Leonard F. Kuhlman and Bridget Matties.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1951. He also served in the Civil Service for 34 additional years retiring from service at NASA S.R. QA. Requirements Compliance Branch.

He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas since 1976. He was one of the founding members of The Holy Name of Jesus Society at the church, a Third Order Member of the Society of Saint Pious the X and the head usher for the same church. He gave of his time and many talents to provide gratuitous maintenance for the church.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret Mary Matties. He leaves behind, to treasure his memory, sons, David Matties and wife, Maria, Denis Matties and wife, Joan, and Daniel “Dan” Matties; seventeen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

In his honor, there will be a rosary on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, at 6:00pm, in Dickinson, Texas followed by a visitation from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 10:00am. Committal will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers are David Matties, Joseph Matties, Christopher Matties, John Matties, Thomas Matties and Benedict Matties. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Matties, Matthew Matties and Francis Matties.
