Joe Davis Hawkins
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Joe Davis Hawkins, age 91, of Pearland, TX, who passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026.
Born on August 15, 1934, in Greenway, Arkansas, to Herbert and Zilpah Hawkins, Joe led a life defined by service and passion. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Throughout his life in Texas and Kentucky, he served his church community in many capacities, including as a preacher, teacher, song leader, youth minister, deacon, and elder.
Joe was a man of many interests. An avid pilot, he enjoyed flying his family across the country for the holidays. He even built a single-seat airplane in his garage. He also had a passion for motorcycles, traveling the country with his brothers and building motorcycles from scratch. A lifelong runner, Joe set track records in his youth and later completed the Houston-Tenneco Marathon.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Julia Maiden, his brothers James and Jean Hawkins, and his granddaughter Shannon Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irma G. Hawkins; his daughter, Marta Brown (Gary); his sons, Zane Hawkins (Viki) and Joel Hawkins; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
