Francis “Frank” Thomas Crucian

Francis (Frank) Thomas Crucian, 90, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born on February 13, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, to William (Bill) and Jane Cruciani. He graduated from the Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and went on to build a 40+ year career in IT, where he was respected by his friends and colleagues for his sense of humor, integrity, and dedication.

When his nation called, he answered by joining the U.S. Army from 1957 – 1960.  Although he worked at several companies and the U.S. government over his professional career, he spent the last 30+ year of his career primarily working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, with a 3-year break where he worked in Germany. He also contributed to higher education by teaching computer science courses at the San Jacinto Junior College for several years.

Beyond his professional life, Frank was known for his caring, humor, and unwavering commitment to his immediate and extended family. He loved golf, baseball, astronomy, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an active member of the St. Clare of Assisi parish and volunteered regularly in his community, specifically being active over the years in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and the senior group Just Older Youth (JOY) at St. Clare’s.

Frank is survived by his 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; his 7 children, Greg (Julie) Crucian, Claire Crucian Baker, Frances (John) Rowland, Diane (Greg) Bordelon, Will (Sheryl) Crucian, Jon (Janice) Crucian, and Tom (Andrea) Crucian; his 14 grandchildren, Caleb, Kevin, Ryan, Nathan, Sean, Jacob, Michael, Stephen, Sarah, Joseph, Madie, Robbie, Matthew, and James; and his 8 great-grandchildren Ryder, Lincoln, Valentina, RaeLynn, Colbie, Rhodes, Sheppard, and Tommy.  He is also survived by his sister, Lorene Crucian. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Evangelina (Alarcon) Crucian and his sister, Wilma Siman.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church, Houston, TX.  Plans are to inter his remains at the Houston National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Jude’s Hospital for Children (Memphis, TN 79849).

Frank will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
