Jose Didio Martinez Jr

Jose Didio Martinez Jr., born July 14, 1943, to Mary Louise and Jose Didio Martinez Sr., passed away on April 1, 2026, leaving behind a life richly woven with love, laughter, and deep devotion to family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Martinez, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage; a partnership defined by enduring love, strength, and unwavering commitment. Together, they created a home where family was always at the center, and where their four daughters, Kelley, Angela, Elyse, and Anne-Marie, were his greatest source of pride and joy.

Affectionately known by many as Joe, JD, Didio, D, Uncle D, Dad, and Pop, he carried each name with warmth and familiarity, reflecting the many roles he so naturally filled. Born and raised on the Island, Didio’s early years were shaped by faith and community. He grew up in the Catholic Church, serving both as an altar server and choir member. It was during his time working at the Galveston County Courthouse that he met Patricia and a lifelong love story begun.

Didio possessed a spirited sense of humor that never dimmed with age. A natural storyteller and playful at heart, he found joy in practical jokes and in recounting the adventures of his youth. His stories, full of mischief, humor, and life, has become part of the fabric of his family, shared and retold across generations. Through laughter, he brought people together, leaving behind memories that will continue to echo in the lives of those who knew him.

His passions extended beyond humor. Didio had a deep love for music and an extraordinary gift for working with his hands. Whether building, repairing, or creating, he approached each task with care, skill, and pride. His work ethic, knowledge, and generosity of spirit were quietly passed down through generations, shaping not only what he built, but who his family has become.

Above all, Didio will be remembered for the kindness he carried so effortlessly, the way he gave of himself, the warmth he extended to others, and the love he poured into his family. His presence was a steady and comforting one, and though he will be deeply missed, the imprint of his life will remain in every story told, every lesson shared, and every moment of laughter remembered.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Martinez; his daughters, Kelley, Angela, Elyse, and Anne-Marie; his grandchildren, Chloe, Philip, AJ, Corey, Devin, Cheyenne, Leonnah, and Leon Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Jazzel, Serenity, Jackson, Brynlee, and Cassius; his sister, Virginia; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his memory forward.

Services will be held on April 18, 2026 at Queen of Peace in La Marque, Texas. Family visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 12:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately after.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.
