Alfred Herman Forsten

Alfred Herman Forsten, 91, of Clear Lake City, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2026. He was born in 1934 in Mulheim, Germany, and lived a life defined by hard work, faithful service, and a generous spirit.

Alfred dedicated 35 years of his career to Arco Chemical/LyondellBasell, where he built a reputation for reliability and commitment. In his personal life, he found joy in staying active through exercise and tending to his garden. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing the world.

Beyond his professional life, Alfred gave tirelessly to his community. For 25 years, he devoted himself to MHMRA (Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority), serving as a member of its Board of Directors. His passion for mental health advocacy touched countless lives. He was also a longtime, faithful member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Clear Lake City, where he lovingly served his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Baldridge Forsten, and his parents, Alfred Forsten Sr. and Elizabeth Zeller Forsten. He is survived by his son, Al Forsten Jr., his wife Tammy, and his children Andrew, Skylar, and Whitney; his daughter Barbara Moreau and her husband Don; his daughter Lisa Garza-Vela and her husband Carlos and her children Salena, Frank Jr., and Roxanne Hernandez; and his brother, Herman Forsten. He has two great-grandchildren, Declan and Hudson.

Alfred will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He was a man of faith, quiet strength, and boundless generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
