Mary Ann Summers

Mary Ann Summers passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on May 26, 1943 in Galveston, Texas to ​William G​. and Frances (Calagna) Quested. Mary Ann was raised ​and attended school in Hitchcock.

Mary Ann was a devoted wife to Phillip C. Summers, Sr., with whom she shared a loving 62 years of marriage. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Sherrie Wright and her husband Michael Wright, and her son, Phillip Summers, Jr. and his wife Lisa Summers. She is survived by her sister, Jennie Lee Thiem, her sister-in-law, Mary Culp, and was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Thiem and Sarah Carner. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in the time spent with them.

She was a cherished grandmother to Macy Wohleb and her husband Lane Wohleb, Sarah Helm and her husband Justin Helm, and Lauren Summers. Nothing brought her more happiness than watching her family grow, and she was especially blessed to become a great-grandmother to Cori Wohleb.

Mary Ann dedicated much of her life to raising her family, creating a home filled with love, support, and stability. She began her career working for Lykes Brothers Steamship Co. in Galveston, where she met the love of her life. She later contributed her time working with Farmers Insurance and Hitchcock ISD, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and strong work ethic. In every role she held, she touched the lives of others through her genuine care and selfless nature.

Above all, Mary Ann expressed her love through caring for her family. She found her greatest joy in cooking for those she loved, bringing everyone together around the table, and making sure each person felt at home. She had a natural instinct to care for others, always wanting to ensure her family was safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her caring heart, and the way she made everyone feel loved and welcomed. She carried herself with grace and quiet strength, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

With a strong and faithful heart, Mary Ann now rests in peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is in the presence of the Lord, watching over them with the same love and care she gave so freely in life. Her memory will be forever cherished, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.

A visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2026 at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque from 5:00pm – 8:00pm with a rosary starting at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, April, 7, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock with Fr. Larry Wilson officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.

Pallbearers are Lane Wohleb, Justin Helm, Hunter Thiem, Michael Thiem, Erik Carner, Chad Carner, and Scott Maxwell. Honorary Pallbearer; John Thiem.
