Mary Lou Quested Broussard
Mary Lou Quested Broussard passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the age of 86.
She was born on December 13, 1939 in Galveston, Texas to Victor L. Quested and Frances (Matranga) Quested. Mary Lou was raised in Hitchcock where she built the foundation of a life defined by hard work, dedication and quiet strength.
From an early age, Mary Lou showed determination and responsibility. At just 14 years old, she began working at Cobb’s Drug Store to help pay for her education at Dominican High School in Galveston from which she graduated in 1957. Right after high school she began her career with Southwestern Bell (AT&T), retiring in 1996 after 31 years of service.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Estill and her husband John Estill of Tomball, TX, son, Don Broussard, Jr., of Texas City, TX, sister, Teresa Quested of Friendswood and her grandchildren, Jonathan Estill and Emily Estill.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 9:00am – 9:30am with the Rosary starting at 9:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am with Father Dominic Pistoni officiating. Burial will be at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Broussard, John Estill, Jonathan Estill, Emily Estill, Ricky Clifton and Mike Matranga. Honorary Pallbearers will be BJ Tax, Frank Tax, Joseph Michael Tax, Charlie Matranga and Joseph Matranga.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hitchcock Library.
