Lois Charlene Mizener

It is with deep sorrow that we announce Lois Charlene Mizener, “Charlene”, 87, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, after a beautifully lived life. Charlene was born in Gladewater, Texas, on May 23, 1938, to Charles Wayne Davis, Sr., and Rachel Lois Busby Davis.

Charlene worked as a Home Economics teacher and Librarian for 38 years. Most of those years were at Hawkins High School in Hawkins, Texas. She was also a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, class of 1960. She was a faithful member of New Hope Church in Friendswood, a master gardener, and a flower show judge. Charlene’s interests included cooking, gardening, reading, and enjoying time spent with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twelve years, Jerome “Jerry” Mizener, and the father of her children and first husband of thirty years, Johnny Hugh Green; her sister, Betty Johnson; her brother, Wayne Davis; and her grandson, Michael Green.

Charlene is survived by her son, Gary Green, and daughters, Lorianne Carter (Stan) and Julianne Bailey (Jim). Her sister, Kay Ellis (Robert). Her eight grandchildren: Shelby Carter, Austin Jordan, Amber Jordan, Andy Green, Courtney Pruitt (Jacob), Alex Green, Andrea Green, and Zoe Green. She is also survived by three great grandchildren: Devin Green, Lawtyn Pruitt, and Madilyn Pruitt.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Ceremony and Luncheon at the Beldon Clubhouse, 555 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546.

She will be buried at a later date in Big Sandy, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to New Hope Church- 108 W. Edgewood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546.
