Cynthia Kay McDermott, 70, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 17, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1955, in Fort Hood, Texas, to Jerry Bethel Geiger and Barbara Lee Bell.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Geiger and Barbara Craig; her grandson, Max William Tworzydlo; and her siblings, William Youngblood, Linda Youngblood, Patricia Sauls, and Charles Geiger.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jennifer Lynn McDermott (Stephen Childers), Keri Ann McDermott (Sean Walden), William Patrick McDermott (Ashley McDermott), and Molly Jo McDermott (Thomas Murphy); her grandchildren, Riley Oliver McDermott and Henry Hawthorn Walden; and her siblings, Darrell Geiger (Denia Geiger), Lomisa Talbot (Sean Talbot), and Tracy Cetera (John Cetera), who will miss her deeply.

Cindy lived with a spirit that was both vibrant and deeply compassionate. She adored her family above all else and found joy in exploring the world, especially through travel and the foods that connected her to different cultures. Nature was her quiet refuge, and she maintained a special affection for birds, often pausing to admire their song and beauty. She spent countless happy hours in her garden, where she could coax any plant into its most glorious form. Those who knew her will remember her as passionate, empathetic, and undeniably fun—a woman who loved wholeheartedly and made life brighter for everyone around her.

A memorial service celebrating Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E. Broadway St., Pearland, Texas 77581, with Chaplain Trudy Huff officiating.
