Michael Alton Sandberg

Michael Alton Sandberg was born on Dec. 30, 1943 in Austin, Texas .

He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1963 and completed pipe fitter apprentice school and was a journeyman pipe fitter for many years. Following his pipe fitter schooling, he bought Champion Cycles and operated it while forming Champion Cycles racing team and was an avid racer and fan. In 1976 he opened a new business Texas Sounds Entertainment and booked talent for fairs, festivals, and corporate functions with artists such as George Jones, Clay Walker, Willie Nelson, and many others. He sold the business to longtime friend and entertainer, Mike Black in 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon, his two daughters, Karen Thomas and Kristen Sandberg and husband Pernall Hamilton., four grandchildren, Stephanie Mata and her husband, Mario, Natalie Thomas and companion Paul, Christopher Thomas and wife, Alex, and P.J. Hamilton. He has four great grandchildren, Caroline and Max Mata, Jack Wykes, and Haley Rae Thomas. He is also survived by his sister Susan DeWitt and husband Keith, and two nieces Kim and Kathy.  He will be missed by longtime friends and relatives and will live in their hearts forever.

In his honor, there will be a visitation on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

  2. I was able to help Mike in the early days of establishing his agency. We shared lots of funny stories, crazy happening, you can only get working with musicians and club owners. My condolences to the family

  3. Praying Sharon and all of Mikes loved ones are able to find peace and comfort. Mike and Sharon are life long friends, who Sandy and I love very much. Who will be DHS Class of 1963 memory now. Michael remembered everything from our childhood and high school days. His story telling was always the best!! I will miss him very much. I love you Sharon and am here when you need to talk.
