Thomas “Jerry” Hopper

Jerry was born Nov. 6,1934 in Oden, Arkansas, the son of Leo A. Hopper and Odessa A. Bryant. He died on August 20, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. After WWII, they moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Wheeler Elementary and Crooked Oak High School where he played right half back from 1952-53. After graduating, he served his country in the Korean conflict for the Army. Upon return to Oklahoma after the conflict he went to work for Ford Motor Company in the former Fred Jones building where he worked in parts distribution. He continued to work for Ford when they were relocated to Dallas in 1968 but took an early retirement to move back to Oklahoma. Returning to OK he went to work for Safeway Distribution which later became Homeland and continued to work there until his final retirement. He enjoyed traveling and did that extensively in later years helping with tour guiding for Silverchase Travel. He spent several years helping run the Big Pine Lodge in Angel Fire, NM and the Clipper House Inn in Kemah, TX. A graveside service will be held at Sunnylane Cemetery Del City, OK on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00am. Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara (55 years), daughter Kristen (David Skinner, husband) granddaughter, Makenzie, brother-in-law Duston Stout, sister-in-law Jerry Stout, many nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
