Roy L. Crouch

Roy L. Crouch passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 in the loving care of his family. He was born on July 1, 1932 to Arlie Calvin Crouch and Inez Gibson in Aberdeen North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers A. C. Crouch and Walter Crouch, sisters Margie Burroughs and Lama Crouch and daughter Terri Larson. He is survived by his wife Von Deen Crouch; sons David Crouch and Nancy, Larry Crouch and Lisa, daughters Sandra Soulé and Dawne Sowle, and brothers Bill and Calvin Crouch. Roy attended high school in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana Technical Institute. He had a successful career as a chemical engineer and later a purchasing executive with Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas with two years service in Saudi Arabia. He retired in 1992. In his retirement years he and Von Deen enjoyed traveling extensively both in the US and Europe. Roy pursued his long time passion for flying, earning his pilot’s license and taking many exciting cross country trips with his beloved copilot Von Deen. With his adventurous spirit he was still enjoying riding a motorcycle into his mid-seventies. Roy was a consummate wood worker and builder as evidenced by the many custom projects he and Von Deen shared in their home. He and Von Deen were both blessed in their strong relationship with the Clear Lake Baptist church and its members. Roy especially felt moved by his work with the food pantry and Habitat for Humanity.

The family encourages his friends to join them for visitation at Crowder Funeral Home at 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas on October 18 between 6-8 pm. Services will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 2 pm at Clear Lake Baptist Church, 15700 Space Center Blvd., Houston, Texas 77062.
