Mary Margaret “Peggy” Hughes

Peggy HughesMary Margaret “Peggy” Hughes, 88, of Houston, formerly of La Marque, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at her residence. Peggy was born December 24, 1925, in Houston, Texas, to Nathaniel and Murl Heaton. Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Marque and volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at Mainland Medical Center after retiring from UTMB. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Hughes and one son, John Raymond Hughes, III. Peggy is survived by two daughters: Margaret Anne James and husband Dennis of Houston and Mariell Archer and husband Larry of Houston, four grandchildren: Bart Vinson Rollins, John Raymond Archer, Jason Harry Archer, and Jennifer Leanne Gruver, seven great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. thru 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 Noon, at Forest Park East Cemetery, in Webster. The family has requested donation be made to Flags for Fallen Vets, Houston National Cemetery, 1002 Davis St., Cleburne TX, 76033.
