Larry Lee Moreland
Larry Lee Moreland passed away at The Crossing on February 11, 2018, surrounded by his beloved family. A longtime resident of Alvin, Texas he was born on November 18, 1942 to Troy and Hazel Moreland in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was married to Catherine Carlson for 14 years. Larry served his country in the United States Marine Corp, attended University of Houston, and worked in Houston area chemical plants and refineries for almost 40 years. He retired to life full of family, friends, and a Lakehouse on Lake Livingston. His lasting legacy will be that of a loving father, a child of God, a coach, and a friend to everyone he encountered. He will be dearly missed!
Larry was predeceased by his parents Troy and Hazel Moreland and Carol Jo Martin. Larry is survived by his partner Lucille Wilbur. He is also survived by his four children — Lance Moreland and wife Christina of Cypress, TX; Brett Moreland and wife Michelle of Richmond, TX; Natalie Joslin and husband Sean of Williamsburg, VA; and Emily Lunsford and husband Richard of San Antonio, TX. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Bryson Moreland, Madison Kaczynski, Meredith Moreland, Haley Kaczynski, Cole Lunsford, Olivia Lunsford, Ashton Moreland, and Luke Moreland.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 with Funeral services to follow at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Ave, La Marque, TX., with Dr. C.O. Magee officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX. Pallbearers will be Lance Moreland, Brett Moreland, Sean Joslin, Rich Lunsford, Bryson Moreland, Danny Trchalek, Cole Lunsford, and Ashton Moreland.

Lucille, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how committed you were during Larry’s illness and I’m sure he appreciated all the time you spent with him and for being his advocate when he could no longer be his own. I am relieved to know that you were at his bedside when he left to be with our almighty God. Remember all the good times you spent together for the past six years, especially prior to his illness. I admired Larry for treating you like his princess; vacations, concerts, dancing and just being there for each other. I witnessed how he replaced your emptiness by bringing back the old Lucille who I have known for almost 50 years. As always, I will continue to be there for you, so don’t feel alone or lost as you will remain a part of my humongous family despite your many names, LOL. Chris, Christopher, Nicklas, and I will pray for Aunt Lucille to overcome your sadness and bless you with many years of fond memories of Larry.

Lance, I wish I could be there tomorrow to give you and your family a big hug. Anyone who has lost a parent feels your pain and can certainly sympathize but its so hard because we can’t do anything to lessen that pain. I sure wish I could. But I can tell you to let the tears flow now. Feel your grief and let it wash over you so then you can begin to heal over time. I know your dad would not want you to stay sad for too long. He was such a beautiful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Larry and I always said that we were first and second cousins. His parents introduced my parents. His father was my mother’s first cousin; his mother was my father’s sister. Larry and I loved each other and kept in touch even when he lived in Alvin; and I, in Dallas. After his divorce from Catherine, he devoted himself to his children, but always seemed lonely. Then, he met the love of his life–Lucille. I rejoiced with him when he and Lucille married.
Lucille, your love for Larry will never die. You’ll always have the memories of your travels with Larry to France and Italy and the cruise from Galveston, your fun in exercising together, your and Larry’s devotion to your church and church members, and most of all your honeymoon trip to the Grand Canyon. No one even approached you in your support of Larry during his illness. I am so grateful that you were with him at the time of his passing. He’ll live forever in your heart.
