Joseph “Joe” Harold Moss

moss, joeJoseph “Joe” Harold Moss completed his greatest journey as he passed into the arms of the Lord on July 23, 2016.  Joe was born on October 19, 1955 in Texas City, Texas to Harrison and Fern Moss.  He attended school in Texas City, and graduated from Texas City High School.  Joe loved growing up in Texas City, and was a life-long Stings fan.  He was often seen cheering on their football, basketball and baseball teams, and attending plays or choir and band concerts.

He also enjoyed attending and being involved in local community activities; whether it was a parade, the Duck Derby, the Shrimp Boil or any other community gathering, Joe could usually be found there enjoying the activities and celebration.

Anyone who knew Joe knew he was a collector.  He always enjoyed going to garage sales, where he would find items to add to his collections.  However, Joe’s greatest collection was his collection of friends.  The phrase “He never met a stranger” truly applied to him.  His friends will always remember him for his genuinely kind and caring personality.

The only thing Joe loved more than his family and friends was the Lord.  He was a faithful member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Texas City.  He was truly a devoted, faithful believer in the Lord.  Whether it was a Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Bible Study, Potluck Dinner or a regular church service; it was always a priority for Joe.  He truly loved spreading the love of Jesus and his word.

Joe was predeceased by his parents; his siblings Judy, William and Elaine; and his grandparents.  He is survived by his uncle and aunt, Travis and Clara Moss of Dickinson, Texas; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.  Joe touched many lives while on this earth, and will truly be missed; but today he is continuing his mission in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016, from noon to 2:00 pm at James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Avenue, La Marque, TX  77568.  A Celebration Service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.  Interment will be at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Barry Allen, Jesse Flanagan, Russell Naisbitt, Curtis Roque, David Smith and Bill Vincent.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:  Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Building Fund, 902 North Logan Street, Texas City, TX  77590.
