Our beloved mother Dolores Louise Johnston, 86, passed away at home on Tuesday, Our beloved mother Dolores Louise Johnston, 86, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in La Marque, TX.  She was born to Charles and Lucille Feddersen on October 3, 1928 in La Marque.  Dolores was proud that she was born, raised and lived all her life in La Marque.  She graduated La Marque High School and the University of Houston. Education was very important to Dolores.  She taught kindergarten and first grade at Lamar and Highlands Elementary.  She was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers’ sorority, serving on many committees and as president. She worked on the Clean City Committee over thirty years, participating in Christmas parades, school projects, landscaping, and other programs to clean and promote La Marque. Dolores was a member of the Mainland Retired Teachers, La Marque Garden Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church. Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Earl Johnston, parents, and brother Charles Feddersen. She is survived by her three daughters: Jewell Wainwright- Horne and husband Robert, Sherri Oberholtzer and husband Joe, and Lauri Canales and husband John; brother William Feddersen and wife Betty; grandchildren: Jay Ali, Jordan and Joshua Thompson, Casie Crisp, and Ernest and Brett Canales, Brian and Brooke Johnston, Paige Oberholtzer, and Joey Crookshank; and great-grandchildren Tyler Cambiano, Rylie Crisp and Alexis Ali. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 4:00PM at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, TX with Pastor Wayne Clement officiating. Donations in Dolores’ honor may be made to her favorite charity the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority scholarship fund in care of Carlotta Bedford, 7091 Yucca Drive, Texas City, Texas 77591.

  1. We will all miss you Aunt Dolores. Your were an amazing woman in everything you did. You put up the biggest fight to stay here as long as you could. Now your reunited back with your loving husband Earl. May you both Rest In Piece.
