Claire Hinton

Claire Yvonne Weber Hinton departed this life to go home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday morning 05/15/2017. In August 2006 she was found to have Mild Cognitive Impairment, which later proved to be Posterior Cortical Atrophy (a rare form of Alzheimer’s Disease). For the last few years it made her totally dependent on others. Though aware of her situation, she retained a positive outlook, thoughtfulness regarding her caregivers, and was an inspiration to those around her. Claire is the daughter of Alan and Arlyne Spacek Weber (both deceased) of Webster, Texas where she grew up and attended grade school. She graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1965 and was elated to attend the 50th class reunion in October 2015 even though she was severely incapacitated. Claire graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College majoring in Education and Math. After graduation in 1968, she worked as a computer programmer for General Electric on the Space Program. During that time she met Will Hinton. They were married in her parents’ backyard in June of 1975. After 12 years with GE she “retired” to become a full time mom to their two daughters Laura and Yvonne. Claire led a highly active life. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved painting, snow skiing, tennis, water skiing, scuba diving, swimming, softball, and traveling. Claire was non judgmental, giving everyone the benefit of the doubt and seeing redeeming character traits in all her acquaintances. She also had a gift for helping others and did what was needed to unselfishly help family and friends on many occasions. Following marriage Claire and Will became focused on learning about God and His plan for their lives. Claire spent many hours in Bible classes taught by Pastor R. B. Thieme, Jr., developing a deep appreciation for God’s grace provision of His Son, who provided for her salvation and eternal life via faith in Him. She enjoyed Bible class and going on evangelistic trips to prisons to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to inmates. Her strong faith in the truth of God’s word inculcated into her soul proved invaluable in facing the trials of the 10 years of steady decline. She knew all along what she was facing and never once complained or questioned God’s decision to permit the adversity. To the end she remained cheerful, courteous and considerate to her caregivers and visitors. Claire was blessed to have faithful, compassionate caregivers in Debora Kerr and Ollie Coleman over the last 4 1/2+ years. Since August 2015 Hallmark Hospice has also been a big help with weekly visits from highly competent nurse Stacey Wimberly and daily visits from compassionate aides (especially Sharon Baglini) who attended to her hygiene needs. Claire was also blessed with close college friends Marie Morrey, Janell O’Laughlin, and Susie Day who visited frequently and Joanie Burg who made several trips from Arlington VA. Claire leaves behind a large number of school, work, church and neighborhood friends plus family and relatives. Family includes husband Will Hinton, daughter Laura Dean and husband John plus granddaughters Kelsye and Liane, daughter Yvonne Reilly plus granddaughter Jade, sister Allyne Ratliff and husband Mike (who visited Claire on an almost daily basis), plus numerous nieces and nephews on both her and Will’s side. Close family friend Pastor RK Lyon of South Park Bible Church in Sapulpa, OK will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday 05/24/2017 at 2 PM at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, TX. Following the service, refreshments and snacks will be provided allowing time for visiting among friends and family. In lieu of flowers, those so inclined to support the dissemination of the message of victory over death through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone are invited to gift Operation Grace World Missions, P.O. Box 19508, Houston, TX, 77224 in memory of Claire.

  1. To Will and family, Condolences to the family of Claire Yvonne Weber Hinton , a fellow believer in our Lord Jesus Christ who regularly attended Bible class where many of us listeners were blessed by her presence and grace filled attitude. She will be missed temporarily until eternity when family and all who knew and loved her will be reunited in complete happiness. May gentle, sweet memories linger as a reminder of God’s perfect timing and watch-care for His own. Job 8:9 For we are only of yesterday and know nothing,Because our days on earth are as a shadow.
